The Right Reverend Dr Setorwu Ofori, the Moderator of the Global Evangelical Church, has laid the foundation stone for an ultramodern chapel for the Anloga branch of the Church in the Volta Region.

The Chapel complex with a capacity to seat 2,500 congregants is estimated to cost GH? Two million and is scheduled for completion in the next two years.

The Moderator, who was supported by Synod Committee Executives, said at a fundraising and thanksgiving Service that there is the need for the Church to support the building of the new Anloga Chapel as the old one is too small to accommodate the increasing number of worshippers.

In a sermon on the theme: “The Lord Shall Deliver You,” based on the Psalm 7, the Moderator advised the congregants to follow the steps of David who never sought to pay back his persecutors.

He said, as Christians, there is the need for them to exercise high sense of patience and forgiveness.

“The best thing to do when pursued is to pray and leave everything to God,” he said.

Rt Rev Ofori said the Lord has been faithful to the Global Evangelical Church.

“Beloved, it was the Lord that delivered us; it is He who brought us this far and he will surely take us to the promise land.”

Rev I.C. Agbenuvor, the Anloga Parish Pastor, on behalf of the Church Session and the members of the congregation, expressed their gratitude to the leadership of the Church for the initiative to support them to acquire a new chapel.

He said the church members are providing communal labour and would do everything humanly possible to ensure that the work is completed on schedule.

Rev Agbenuvor expressed appreciation for the contributions of the various Presbyteries of the Church, Anloga citizens, home and abroad as well as the church members.

He encouraged all to support the project to make the dream of a new chapel a reality.

A special fund raising towards the project on the day yielded more than GH?100,000.
