Anglican Church supports health care delivery in the Kwahu area

Kwahu-Jamase (E/R), Nov. 15, GNA - The Koforidua Diocese of the Anglican Church has presented a new motorcycle to the Kwahu-Jamase Anglican CHPS Compound to help the staff of the clinic to undertake outreach programmes to villages surrounding Kwahu-Jamase. Presenting the motorcycles, the Bishop of the Diocese, the Right Reverend Francis Benjamin Quashie, explained that the presentation formed part of the regular support that the church had been offering to help bring health care to the doorsteps of all.

Rt. Rev. Quashie said the items were acquired through the support of the All Saints Church of Denmead, United Kingdom, a development partner of the Diocese.

Receiving the Keys of the motorcycle, the nursing officer in-charge of the clinic, Ms Gladys Adusei, assured that the members of staff of the clinic would take good care of the motorcycle and would use it for the purpose for which it was presented. Nana Richard Asamoah, Wrepemhene of Kwahu Jamase, said the traditional authorities in the area had donated a parcel of land to the church for development into a bigger hospital with accommodation for nurses. Later at Kwahu-Apradan, the Bishop presented a water tank, some items for the construction of a water closet toilet and a cash of GHC1975 for the rehabilitation of the Kwahu-Apradan Health Centre to enable it to meet the accreditation requirements of the National Health Insurance Agency. Rev. Fr. Edward Asomani, Director of the Anglican Diocesan Development and Relief Organization, assured the people that from next year, his organization would start a malaria prevention programme in the area. He explained that under the programme all children under five years and pregnant women would be given treated mosquito nets to sleep under to help reduce malarial infection in the area. Rev. Fr. Asomani called on the citizens of the area to register with the National Health Insurance to enable them to benefit from the scheme.

Nana Sasu Asante, Kwahu Apradanhene, thanked the church for their support and assured that the community would support the activities of the clinic. Mr Emmanuel Garto of the Nkawkaw Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Health Service, appealed to the people to use part of their regular communal labour days to keep the compound of the clinic clean.
