Anglican Bishop assures congregation of God’s favour

The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Tamale, the Right Reverend Dr Jacob Kofi Ayeebo, on Sunday reassured members of his congregation to rekindle their relationship in Christ to win his favour as the new year begins.

He said “It is legitimate as humans to worry about life’s problems. However, as Christians, we have our hopes in Christ and so we need not worry about our health, business, marriage and other things that will deter us from our relationship with Christ”.

The Bishop gave the assurance when he preached the sermon at the Saint Cyprian Anglican Parish in Bolgatanga.

According to the Bishop “We must learn to place our trust in the Lord and commit our problems to him. He is always ready to receive our problems and solve them”.

He said rhetoric questions abound about our fate, our lives, businesses, family among others as we enter into a new year, and indicated that in Matthew 6:36 God assures man not to worry “because God has taken control over everything we wish for in life for the year 2019.

The Bishop said life may not be rosy “but through God’s infinite love our steps will be ordered in Christ, it is a year of prosperity, and victory over all our problems”.

He assured the congregation of better times in 2019, and urged them to adopt positive thinking attitude in the year. “Your desires, wishes and needs have been taken care of by God through his son Jesus. God is compassionate, kind, and loving and will not hesitate to serve our needs”

The Right Reverend Ayeebo encouraged the congregation to “Let us go through this year with confidence because we have a great God. God’s promise of getting the Israelites out of Egypt was not a rhetoric but one backed by action”.

He admonished members of the church to show love to humanity and do away with the spirit of envy, “this is the year that God is going to make someone somebody”, he added.

The Bishop concluded the sermon and said “Let’s take a step into the world by connecting to our creator, ensuring strong faith through prayer and granting ourselves the hope to serve him in newness of life and faith”.

He later administered the oil of faith building to the members of the congregation.
