About 450 pilgrims, 12 flights for 2015 Hajj

Alhaji Abdul-Rauf Ibrahim Tanko, the National Hajj Chairman, has revealed that about 450 pilgrims will be undertaking this year's Hajj, with 12 flights scheduled for the holy pilgrimage.

He said Muslims who would be undertaking this year’s hajj to the Holy Land should ensure that their traveling documents were processed in good time to prevent the pilgrims from getting disappointed at the eleventh hour, just to be told that they would not be able to undertake the trip

Alhaji Tanko gave the advice when he spoke to the Ghana News Agency at his office at the Hajj Village near the Polo Club in Accra, on preparations being made by the Hajj Board to ensure a successful Hajj this year.

He disclosed that about 450 pilgrims would undertake this year’s pilgrimage to Mecca and that a total of 12 flights would be involved in the Hajj slated for September 5 to 16.

The National Hajj Chairman said every stone was being left unturned by the Board to ensure that the pilgrims undertook the pilgrimage without any hassles.

He used the occasion to express the Board’s deepest appreciation to public-spirited Ghanaians and corporate organisations for their kind donations and regular support.

Alhaji Tanko said the main challenge facing the Hajj Village was the lack of permanent structures and was optimistic that sooner than later, it would get permanent office accommodation to facilitate its smooth operations.
