8th Day Remembrance Service held for the late Mr. Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu

Accra, Oct. 1, GNA - The Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning on Wednesday held a remembrance service for the late Mr Kwadwo Baah-Wiredu, the sector minister. The ceremony attracted dignitaries including parliamentarians, members of the diplomatic corps, government officials, the Christian Council of Ghana, Heads of Departments as well as members of the public. Rev. Dr. Fred Deegbe, General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, said in an exhortation that the demise of a loved one presented a great opportunity for mourners to reflect on their lives and make meaningful inputs where they had failed. He appealed to the widow and the entire family of the late minister to be strong and stay focused instead of entertaining rumours about the cause of death.

"The demise of our brother and friend is in fulfilment of the scriptures concerning humanity, a truth that no man can escape." Rev Deegbe said Mr Baah-Wiredu served his God and the nation well and led a positive life that endeared him to almost the entire nation and even beyond, leaving the hope that he is at peace with his maker. He said the short life he lived earned him the position of becoming a gem in the hearts and minds of all who came into contact with him and his loss is very unfortunate especially at a time the nation needed him most.

Mr. Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, Member of Parliament for Juaben North, the Controller and Accountant General, Mr Christian Sortie and the management of Customs, Excise and Preventive Service read tributes. 01 Oct 08
