73 Catholics receive sacrament of confirmation

Gomoa Abamkrom (C/R), Dec. 7, GNA - The Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Cape Coast, Most Reverend Monsignor Mathias Nkets= ia, administered the sacrament of confirmation to 73 members of the Catholic Church at Gomoa Abamkrom.

He was assisted by Rev. Father Jude Ampah, Parish priest and Deputy Parish Priest Rev. father Patrick E. Amonoo to carry out the ceremony during a special advent service that was in preparation for the Christmas. In a sermon, Bishop Nketia called on Christians to maintain their faith in Jesus Christ, pray ceaselessly and wait patiently for the second coming of Christ. He said that the times ahead would be difficult and asked Christians to preach the good news to the youth so that they do not fall victims to abomination and vices. Bishop Nketia commended other religious bodies in the town for collaborating and co-existing with the Catholic Church.

Rev. Patrick Ansah, Circuit Minister of the Wesley Methodist Church,= in a speech read on behalf of the chief of the town, Nana gyan Abbam V, expressed appreciation to the Catholic Church for its contribution to national development particularly in education and health. He expressed concern about the falling standards of education in the area. Rev. Father Ampah, said that a speciall fare-well and thanks-giving service will be held at Pedu in Cape Coast on December 20 for His Eminenc= e Peter Cardinal Appiah-Turkson, who takes up a new appointment at the Vati= can City in Rome.
