Kissi Agyebeng is a distinguished Ghanaian lawyer and academic, serving as the Special Prosecutor of Ghana since August 5, 2021.

Before he was appointed Special Prosecutor, he held various notable positions, including being a lecturer at the University of Ghana, Managing Partner at Cromwellgray LLP, and Chairman of the Electronic Communications Tribunal of Ghana.

Early Life and Education (1978–2006)

Born on July 2, 1978, Agyebeng grew up in Kwahu Nkwatia, Eastern Region. He attended the Accra Academy, where he completed his Ordinary Level (O-Level) certificate in 1994, followed by his Advanced Level (A-Level) certificate in 1996.

Subsequently, he pursued a law degree at the University of Ghana, graduating in 2001 as the best-graduating student in his cohort. His outstanding performance earned him the Bentsi-Enchill Award for Best Graduating Law Student.

He continued his legal studies at the Ghana School of Law, where he graduated in 2003, receiving the E.N. Sowah Memorial Award for Best Student in Family Law. That same year, he was officially called to the Ghana Bar.

In 2004, Agyebeng furthered his education at the Schulich School of Law, Dalhousie University, specialising in Marine and Environmental Law, and graduated in 2005.

Following this, he attended Cornell Law School at Cornell University, where he pursued another master's degree in Corporate Law and Securities Regulation, serving as the editor of the Cornell LL.M. Newsletter.

During the period leading up to his role as Special Prosecutor, Agyebeng gained extensive experience in both academia and legal practice, establishing himself as a noteworthy figure in Ghana's legal landscape.

Special Prosecutor (2021–Present)

Kissi Agyebeng was sworn in as the Special Prosecutor of Ghana on August 5, 2021, for a statutory seven-year term.

As of February 2026, he remains in office, following a significant legal victory concerning the validity of his tenure.
