The game of football has always been unfair to shot stoppers, with many fans and pundits alike crediting field players for the success of a club or a nation. The isolated nature of goalkeepers make them vulnerable to media blackout and fans neglect, the case of Dennis Sung Votere.

Born in Wa, in the upper west region, Dennis resorted to roadside gala football at his infantile and foetal age whiles attending Dan Ibu International School. The talented teen prodigy ironically started as a center back, gradually dropping further back to the role of a shot stopper.

Then roaming through the main and identifiable football pitches in Wa in search of gala football, Dennis Votere rose through the ranks with a supersonic speed, joining the second tier of Ghana football only at age 16. With no serious football at St Francis Xavier Minor Seminary, Dennis saw his football journey punctuated if not truncated at the SHS level. His destiny though sent him to Accra, where he joined Star Makers FC in the division II league. Weekly heroism with Star Makers FC landed Dennis a way back home, a new adventure with the newly established Wa Suntaa SC. It was an adventure made in heaven, both parties enjoyed a symbiotic partnership.

Coming home for the start of the 2017 Regional Division II league in the Upper West region, Dennis Votere met his God sent football fathers, Wa All Stars goal keeper Richard Ofori and trainer, Issah Najahu. The pair combined to transform the lanky and imposing Dennis into a national asset. The Wa born custodian made history for himself with an outstanding job en route to division one qualifications at the first time of asking.

Planted as the number one shot stopper by the head coach, Votere Dennis kept 4 clean sheets in row before ceding his first league goal in almost 400 minutes of asking. Saeed Rafiq Duoso broke that virgin run with a goal for Discipline Youth in Match day five of the 2017 Biyad Gas Division II league. The Wa Suntaa SC shot stopper however made light work of his first conceded goal, allowing only one more goal in the 13 games played. An outstanding 11 clean sheets in 13 games highlighted the rise and rise of the teen prodigy, Votere Sung Dennis.

Getting ready for ardent, hectic and zoo-like National Division One league, the 18 year old shot stopper hopes to power Suntaa SC into the history books of Ghana football. Inspired by Issah Najahu, Richard Ofori and his uncle Titus Votere, fans and pundits of the game will have to watch out for a new national asset. Is it the 11 clean sheets in 13 games or the fearsome body frame? His teen status of just 18 or the brevity of a lion? Ghana football, here comes your new arrival, Votere Sung Dennis
