Kumasi, Dec. 27, GNA - Daniel Nii Adjei's lone goal two minutes into injury time enabled Kumasi Asante Kotoko to pip visiting Aduana Stars 1-0 in their 12th Week Glo Premier League match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium, Kumasi on Sunday.
Paying with 10 men from the 49th minute after referee Awal Mohammed had sent Waham Adams for receiving a second yellow card Aduana spent the greater part of the match defending their post.
They hardly made any serious incursion up front from the beginning but it was only in the 40th minute when they made a move and had an opportunity to score but Kwame Frimpong who was in a good position fumbled in front of goal.
Kotoko played the first half with 60 per cent ball possession and created many goalmouth actions but the defence of Aduana stood gallantly to ward off all the attacks with goalkeeper, Stephen Adams being superb in the post as he made daring saves to deny the Porcupine Warriors from scoring any goal.
When the second half resumed, both teams exhausted their substitution but none of them could score with the Kotoko fans highly disappointed after the regulation time. While some of them started to leave the field of play, Nii Adjei broke the deadlock with a powerful shot which beat goalkeeper Adams in a goalmouth melee to ensure Kotoko took the maximum points. 27 Dec. 09
