Accra, Dec. 23, GNA - Sekondi Eleven Wise halted the winning spree of defending champions Accra Hearts of Oak when they held them to a 2-2 drawn game in their Week 11 clash of the Premier league on Wednesday at the Ohene Djan Stadium, Accra.
Striker Prince Appiah grabbed a spectacular equalizer for the visitors to deny the Phobians of their third successive victory in the 11-week old premiership.
Eleven Wise, wh o have established a reputation as a bogey of the League holders since rejoining the elite division last year, took a surprise lead after five minutes through William Owusu, who headed home beautifully from Michael Ocansey's cross from the right flank.
On 27 minutes, slippery forward Mahatma Otoo levelled for Hearts after captain Karim Alhassan had set him up from a well taken free-kick. The Phobians took charge of the game from then with consistent raids into the half of the visitors, but near misses from Samuel Afum and Otoo robbed them of the lead before the recess. Eleven minutes into the second half, Eric Gawu shot Hearts into the lead for the first time in the game by connecting from a goalmouth action from a corner kick.
The lead will however last for only six minutes before Appiah drew parity with a spectacular half-volley around the Hearts penalty area also from an ensuing corner kick.
With 20 minutes to end proceedings, Afum was gifted with an opportunity to restore his side's lead but shot wide, whilst Appiah's miscued response after Winfred Dormon had laid unto his path ensured the game ended in a deadlock. 23 Dec. 09
