Toure fined and banished to reserves

Kumasi Asante Kotoko have fined striker Ahmed Toure a month's wages and ordered him to train with their reserve side after he overstayed compassionate leave.

The Ivorian who was the Ghana Premier League's Most Valuable Player last season and a key man for Kotoko spent two extra weeks in Abidjan after he was granted permission by Kotoko to visit his sick mum.

The player claimed his mother's situation worsened while he was in Abidjan but the Kotoko management decided it was not a good enough excuse.

In addition to the month's wages, Toure will also have to train with the reserve side of Kotoko till coach Maxwell Konadu deems fit to recall him.

Konadu has been furious with the attitude of the striker and has said he will carry on with the player's at his disposal who have helped Kotoko go six points clear at the top of the league in the absence of the Ivorians.
