Tema Youth defeats King Faisal in Kumasi

Kumasi, July 12, GNA - Visiting Tema Youth FC on Sunday inflicted a painful 1-0 defeat on Kumasi-based King Faisal in their penultimate Glo Premier League encounter at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi. The visitors secured the maximum three points courtesy Emmanuel Baffour whose 60th minute strike made the difference to ensure victory for the Tema lads.

The goal was a beautiful one by all standards as it was initiated at the right flank in a counter-attack by Richard Annan who intercepted a pass and raced deep into Faisal's goal area before letting go a carpet pass which Baffour made no mistake to pounce on before he dummied three defenders in the process before beating advancing goalkeeper Osei Boateng.

The match began with the home team making early incursion into the goal area of the visitors but could not score due to poor shooting up front by Prince Arko and Abdul Samad Oppong.

Unable to score in the initial stages, Faisal changed their tactics in the second half and concentrated their play in midfield where Dan Addo and Eric Opoku operated effectively.

However, against the run of play Tema Youth marshaled their defence very well and caught Faisal unawares in the counter-attack which resulted in the goal to the satisfaction of their supporters who went into wild jubilation with the anticipation that the win would go a long way to brighten their chances of escaping relegation. 12 July 09
