Sportive Hold Liberty

An at the Dansoman Karl Reindorf Park in Accra Liberty Professionals were held to a goalless drawn game by Tema Real Sportive in their Fourth week Premier League encounter.

After defeating Kumasi King Faisal in the last their league match, Liberty were highly tipped to carry the day but the tactically disciplined Sportive side matched them squarely in every department of the game and succeeded in picking a point home.

It was a game which could have gone to any of the sides, as the two teams made several unsuccessful attempts at breaking the deadlock throughout the duration of the game.

For Sportive, it was veteran James Nanor, whose agility and timely interventions, which ensured that their back line was unbroken whilst the defensive network of Liberty also ensured that keeper Kotei Blankson was free on most occasions.

It was however Liberty who came close to scoring in 67th minute only to be denied by the cross bar after a swift combination between Michael Helegbe and substitute Michael Osei.

Sportive also got a similar opportunity to score but Issa Mohammed's grounder was saved by Kotei Blankson in the 72nd minute. Both sides battled relentlessly in search of the opener, which never came till the referee E. N. Adjei signalled for the close of proceedings.

Sportive midfielder, Hamza Abdulai who was a constant threat to Liberty was adjudged man-of-the-match at the end of the day. 24 Sept. 06
