Second Division League match ends abruptly

Cape Coast, March 22, GNA - The Second Division League match between Oguaa United and Adisadel Astronomers on Friday ended abruptly in the 87th minute following an incident in a match played at the Robert Mensah stadium in Cape Coast.

The incident nearly got the referee, Kennedy Padi injured when at a time Oguaa United was leading 2-1.

The confusion all started in the 87th minute when the goalkeeper of Oguaa United, Patrick Amoah picked a quarrel with a supporter of Astronomers resulting in a fight and in an attempt to separate them, referee Padi from the University of Cape Coast was knocked down with an implement by another supporter of Astronomers.

Officials of the Sports Council led by Mr Issa Haruna, the stadium manager hurriedly intervened and rescued the referee before he called off the match.

In an interview with the GNA Sports later, referee Padi said he had to stop the match because his life was in danger.
