Power FC Thrash Arsenal

Unpredictable Power FC on Wednesday humbled Brekum Arsenal with a 3-0 spanking in their OneTouch Premier League clash at the Ho Sports Stadium.

Power, being threatened with relegation, threw everything into the match from the blast of the whistle and got the opener in the 20th minute, courtesy Allan Shearer and held onto the lead throughout the first half.

After recess, Arsenal raised the tempo of their game but could not penetrate the closely-knit Power defence.

In 57th minute, Abeiku Jonathan powered Power to a two nil advantage, connecting home Thomas Mensah's in-swinger from the left flank.

Abeiku was on target again by a connecting home a low drive from Elvis Opoku in the 71st minute to secure the day for Power. Coach Daniel Mensah of Power told the Ghana News Agency that the goal drought, which had been the Archilles Hill of the team in 2006 had ended and that his team was poised to fell all teams at the Ho Sports Stadium.

He said his team had resolved to escape relegation at the end of the season.

Coach Mensah said he had started psyching up his boys for their next encounter with Accra Hearts of Oak. 10 Jan 07
