Liberty in winning start

Accra, Oct. 9, GNA - Liberty Professionals began their campaign in t= he 2011/2012 football season on a bright note when they chalked a lone goal victory over Aduana Stars in the Premier League match at the Carl Reindorf Park, Dansoman on Sunday.

New recruit Zuberu Fuseini scored the only goal of the match to hand Liberty Professionals an expected perfect start to the new season. Still mourning the demise of Club President, Alhaji Ibrahim Sly Tetteh= ; Liberty Professionals gave a good account of themselves against the 2009 champions, Aduana Stars. Against the run of play, Zuberu scored what turned out to be the only goal of the match by slotting the ball past Aduana goalie Stephen Adams after he was put through by captain Michael Helegbe. Liberty's debutant Baba Gullit combined effectively with his colleag= ues at the middle to thwart all efforts of the visitors. The second half belonged to Aduana as they pinned the host to their half in their quest for the equalizer but all their efforts failed to achieve the desired results.

Aduana's overlapping defender, Godfred Saka had a field day on the flanks but his connection with Emmanuel Allan and Akwasi Addai Apraku faile= d to yield the much expected equalizer. Liberty however managed to hold onto their thin lead to cruise to victory in the opening match of the new season.
