Liberty demolish Wa All Stars

Accra, May 21, GNA - Dansoman-based Liberty Professionals kept their unbeaten home record with a 3-1 win over Wa All Stars in their Week 20 clash of the Onetouch Premier League on Wednesday. Liberty, yet to loose at the Carl Reindorf Park this season, unsettled their guests with a second minute lead after All Stars captain Amin Ismail inadvertently connected home a cross by Liberty midfielder Mustapha Essuman past his goalkeeper Robert Adabou for an won goal. The homesters had started on an attacking note with several raids into the visitors half.

The All Stars defence marshaled around former Asante Kotoko defender, Godfred Yeboah, former Black Stars defender Habib Mohamed, Philip Boampong and Amin however remained resolute.

Liberty's midfielder Samuel Yeboah remained the architect of regular raids into the All Stars half in search of more goals. All Stars also made a handful of incursions into the Liberty half with slippery midfielder Issah Saliu leading the onslaught, which nearly paid off for them on 40 minutes but his shot from Daniel Bomfah's pass missed target narrowly.

Five minutes later, Tuaha Khamix was gifted with a fine opportunity to increase the tally for Liberty but he selfishly shot wide when his colleagues who were awaiting a pass for a corner kick. The resultant corner kick executed by Emmanuel Osei was however connected by Yaw Antwi for the second goal.

The second half began on a sour note as Liberty's goalkeeper Patrick Antwi was given the marching off orders after elbowing Saliu in the face. Antwi who grabbed a loose ball deliberately hit Saliu or the fourth referee, Michael Asare to alert centre referee Patrick Kyeremateng who wasted no time in showing the keeper the exit. The dismissal of Antwi saw Liberty sacrifice Michael Insaidoo for substitute goalkeeper Nana Bonsu. Insaidoo had lasted barely 120 seconds after replacing Kofi Nti Boakye during the interval. Despite the numerical disadvantage, Liberty held unto their dominance and scored the third goal in the 72nd minute through Yeboah, who slotted home from a goal mouth action. Substitute Bright Kukubor grabbed a consolation for All Stars in the closing stages with a volley that beat Bonsu.
