Kotoko crush Berekum Arsenal

Kumasi, March 18, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko chalked a sweet 3-0 victory when they spankedr Berekum Arsenals in their mid-week 13th Week encounter of the GLO Premier League match at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi.

Louis Agyeman shot Kotoko into the lead in the 21st minute in a goalmouth melee with a low grounder.

Kotoko who had a good day continued to probe for more goals with coach Isaac Operle Boateng pushing urging his men up front. The strategy paid off for the 'Fabulous' boys in the 29th minute when enterprising Alex Asamoah connected home a cross from Samuel Inkoom to make it two for Kotoko.

From then it was all Kotoko as they took absolute control of the game and should have scored their third goal in the 33rd minute but Agyeman who was faced with only goalkeeper Thomas Asare to beat fumbled in front of goal.

Agyeman was again on target in the 36th minute but his shot missed the post narrowly with the goalkeeper completely displaced. Sensing danger, Arsenal brought on Frank Opoku for Halifax Afranie in the 38th minute but it was Kotoko who were still on top of proceedings. Kotoko replaced injured Stephen Oduro with Ofosu Amoah in the 40th minute to end the first half.

Arsenals improved on their game in the second session but the solid defence of Kotoko pivoted around Samuel Inkoom, Osei Kwame, Prince Anokye, Godfred Yeboah and Louis Quainoo held the strikers of Arsenals at bay.

Alex Asamoah sealed the doom of the visitors with Kotoko's third goal in the 74th minute with a personal effort when he shot past goalkeeper Asare after dribbling though a forests of legs to admiration of the partisan home fans.
