Kessben F/C pip RTU 1-0 in Premier League

Abrankese, (Ash), May 31, GNA - Kessben F/C on Saturday played a determined game to pip Real Tamale United (RTU) 1-0 in their second round 22nd Week Onetouch Premier League match played at the Anane Boateng Sports Stadium at Abrankese on the Lake Bosumtwi road. The lone goal was scored in the 33rd minute through Edmund Owusu Peprah when he connected a right footer after the ball had hit the posts and bounced back into play in a goal mouth melee. Kessben who lost 0-2 to their opponents in the first leg in Tamale had earlier wasted a spot kick taken by Lamine Nasir in the 17th minute. It was RTU's goalie Alhassan Mohammed who brought down Isaac Danquah in the penalty box who had attempted to head the ball in the 14th minute and referee W. L .Quaye of Accra did not hesitate to whistle for the spot kick.

The RTU players protested vehemently but when tempers cooled down in the 17th minute, Nasir who opted to take the kick missed the posts narrowly to the annoyance of the few supporters at the stadium. The visitors accepted the challenge as they played it hard but could not get the equalizer up to the end of the half. On resumption of the game, both teams made the needed substitutions but it was Kessben who were at the advantage as they won most of the exchanges but failed to increase their tally. RTU made a number of dangerous attempts in search for the equalizer but it never came their way till the final whistle.
