Hearts suffer their third defeat

Obuasi, May 27, GNA - Obuasi AshGold played a highly-spirited game to beat current Premier League leaders, Accra Hearts of Oak by a lone goal in their 21st mid-week Glo League match at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi.

The only goal of the match was scored in the 86th minute by substitute Habib Mohammed from an Emmanuel Adjetey's pass. This is Hearts third defeat in the current League which they are at the top with 44 points.

AshGold right from the kick-off gave the defence of Hearts no breathing space as they pinned them to their own half but poor shootings at goal, especially by Addoquaye Addo and Ellisan Mensah denied them of any early goals.

Hearts who played without their head strikers, Obed Ansah and Eric Gawu, however, came into the picture in the latter part of the first half but Fatau Dauda saved the situation for AshGold. Back from the recess, both sides made changes with Abdul Aziz coming in for Stephen Owusu Ansah for AshGold while Charles Taylor gave way to Tawrik Jibriel and Daniel Coleman for Charles Vardis with an injured goalkeeper Solomon McCarthy being replaced by Joshua Opoku. Lack of stamina began to tell on the Phobians and AshGold took the opportunity to bombard the vital area of the visitors and in one of their forays Emmanuel Adjetey pounced on a loose ball and gave a pass to Habib Mohammed who made no mistake in planting the ball into the net. After the match, there was wild jubilation by AshGold supporters which ensure that the Club moved from the relegation zone to a better position on the table. 27 May 09
