Hearts, Kotoko to thrill Accra fans

With both Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak recording wins last weekend on the opening day of the 2013/14 Ghana Premier League (GPL), the stage is set for a titanic battle between the two at the Ohene Djan Stadium in Accra on Sunday.

This fixture tops the billing as the Premiership enters match day two this weekend with the points crucial to both sides chances of winning the ultimate at the end of the campaign even at this early stage.

There is a lot at stake as Kotoko seek to protect their three year unbeaten run against the Phobians in Accra and the bragging rights that goes with it something their fans would very much cherish.

They have won the Premiership for the last two seasons and have been tagged by many as favourites to win this year?s edition, which puts enormous pressure on them to justify that call game by game towards the end of the campaign.

They came from behind to beat Aduana Stars 2 ? 1 last Sunday, but, would need to be extra vigilant in this game as they may not get those same opportunities against Hearts if they concede first again.

Not conceding is what the Phobians managed in posting a 2 ? 0 away win over New Edubiase United in Bekwai in their opening fixture, and, they will go into this game with a lot of confidence as they look for the win that could take them top of the table by Sunday evening if other results go their way.

A lot will also be at stake at the Robert Mensah Stadium in Cape Coast where Mysterious Dwarfs will be at home to Sekondi Hasaacas in a Central ? Western regional derby.

Dwarfs recorded a comfortable 2 ? 0 away victory over new entrants Inter Allies, and would be in buoyant mood as they host a Hasaacas side that drew goalless in their opener with Medeama SC at the Essipong Stadium.

AshantiGold SC welcome Liberty Professionals to the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi where they will seek to collect the three points after drawing goalless with Heart of Lions in their opener.

Professionals also earned a point against Wa All Stars as they drew one all, and will also be in search of the win as they play as guests of the Miners.

Wa All Stars will seek to compound the misery of New Edubiase United as they open their home account at the Wa Stadium; Medeama SC will be the odds on favourites to collect the three points as they welcome Bechem United to the Tarkwa T&A Park.

Aduana Stars hosts Inter Allies at the Nana Agyemang Badu II Park, Dormaa with King Faisal welcoming Heart of Lions to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

The weekend action starts at the Tema Stadium on Saturday where Amidaus Professionals plays Berekum Chelsea in what would be expected to be a tough duel for both sides.
