Dwarfs spank Tarkwa United

Cape Coast, April 6, GNA - Cape Coast Ebusua Dwarfs brought the smiles back to the faces of their supporters when they whipped Tarkwa United, the Zone 2B League leaders, 5-1 in their Division One League match at the Robert Mensah Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Dwarfs, who outclassed their opponents for a greater part of the game in the first half, led 3-1 in the first half.

After referee Albert Nelson signaled the two sides into action, it was Dwarfs who were on the attack and went ahead to score two quick goals through midfielder Bismark Asiedu and centre half, Francis Gyepi in the 20th and 24th minutes.

The home team continued to dictate the pace of the game and increased their tally in the 40th minute through a spot kick taken by Douglas Mustapha.

Despite the early set back, Tarkwa United did not relent in their efforts of matching their opponents and rightly got a consolation goal in the 43rd minute through a free kick taken by centre half John Arthur. Back from the recess, Tarkwa United entertained the spectators with some copybook soccer but their hopes of drawing level with Dwarfs were dashed when Asiedu and Mustapha increased their side's goal tally in the 65th and 69th minutes to bring the full time scores to 5-1.
