Disadvantaged Zaytuna beats Lions

Accra, May 7, GNA -Numerically disadvantaged Zaytuna United drilled a Heart of Lions team that were pre-match favourites and pushed a 1-0 bitter pill down their throat in their outstanding league game played at El-Wak.

Zaytuna, mindful of their precarious position on the league table fought all afternoon and defied the Lions numerical advantage to score through Dan Larbi five minutes from time. After a scoreless first half during which the hosts had held their own, creating lots of panic for the Lions, the visitors resumed the second session rejuvenated and had Edmund Owusu-Ansah and George Yamoah all getting close to glory.

Zaytuna appeared pressed as the game progressed and it was during that time that Shadrack Kyei picked a second yellow card and exited. Whilst Lions were still in control and dictating the pace, Larbi did the near impossible thing by putting Zaytuna ahead after they had survived an invasion led by Owusu-Ansah. And drama was to unfold three minutes on with Lion's substitute Hans Kwofie picking a red card immediately he came on. Kwofie's first touch saw him brutally fouling advancing Larbi, forcing referee Ali Musa Plato to send him off.
