BA United clash with Bofoakwa over Coronation Park

A game involving BA United and Bofoakwa Tano in the Zone 1B of the Division One League has been deferred following a squabble over usage of the Sunyani Coronation Park.

Per an email sent by the DOL board this week to the clubs, BA United were scheduled to play against Bechem United on Sunday whilst Bofoakwa Tano also play Universal Stars on Saturday.

Goal.com Ghana checks indicate that a top official for one of the clubs objected to the proposed date for the game, saying their mid-week game saw BA United featuring first on Wednesday whiles Bofoakwa honoured theirs on Thursday hence the disagreement over the change of pattern.

However, an emergency meeting was held on Friday between the DOL board and the said parties in an effort to resolve the differences, but proved futile, forcing the fixture to be deferred indefinitely.

Speaking to Goal.com Ghana, the Public Relations Officer for BA United, Awal Mohammed, confirmed the postponement of the fixture as a result of the disagreement with their regional rivals.

“It is true; we had a clash with Bofoakwa this weekend over who is eligible to use the Coronation Park resulting in its postponement,” he said.

“We officially received a communiqué from the acting General Secretary of the GFA, Emmanuel Gyimah indicating that the fixtures have been postponed indefinitely due to a mix-up in the fixtures.”

Meanwhile, all efforts to get officials from the camp of Bofoakwa Tano to speak on the issue failed.
