Ashgold pip Olympics with a 1-0 victory

Ho, Jan. 11, GNA - Obuasi Ashgold on Thursday registered a sweet revenge on Accra Great Olympics when they beat them by a lone goal in their OneTouch Premier league encounter at the Ho Sports Stadium. Striker Opoku Agyemang capitalized on a defensive blunder by the defence of Olympics to score the lone goal for his side in the 30th minute after Olympics early attack failed to yield any results. The goal powered Ashgold to determine the pace of the game for the rest of the first half.

After the recess, Olympic sprung back into action but their attackers failed to penetrate the Ashgold defence manned by Joseph Hendricks and goal keeper Fatau Dauda who stood between Olympics and any goal on several occasions.

Tanko Mohammed's header nearly fetched the equalizer for Olympics in 77th minute but the effort missed the posts narrowly. Olympics increased the pressure on Ashgold in the dying minutes of the game but they continuously met the resolute defence who denied them of causing any havoc till the final whistle.

Opoku Agyemang was adjudged the Man of the Match.
