All Blacks hold Liberty to barren draw

Accra, May 27, GNA - Visiting Gamba All Blacks put up a determined performance to hold Liberty Professionals to a barren draw in their Glo Premier League Week 21 encounter on Wednesday at the Ohene Djan sports stadium in Accra. The visitors were clearly the better side but poor conversion rate by their strikers coupled with consistent offside flagging by assistant referee Fred Odonkor and the main referee robbed the Swedru lads of the maximum points.

Several raids by All Blacks into the half of Liberty was halted by a surprise offside flagging by Odonkor, much to the surprise of the sparse crowd. For Liberty, their brightest moment was in the 48th minute when Richard Kissi's glancing shot across goal missed target by inches with All Blacks goalie Kwesi Acheampong left sprawling. Despite the dominance in possession, All Blacks failed to test Liberty goalie Yaw Berko who was virtually on a holiday throughout the game.

After a dull first half characterized by near misses, both sides resumed strongly with their sights on the maximum points. All Blacks coach, Abu Yussif brought on petit midfielder Joe Louis for Clement Coffie in the closing stages and it nearly paid off but for Bismark Idan and Obed Owusu's lack of vision in front of goal.
