Adama dash Feyenoord's hope

Accra, Oct 13, GNA - The hopes of Gomoa Fetteh-based Feyenorrd of picking an away point was dashed when Awudu Adama of Power FC made two late strikes to give his side a 3-2 vital win in their week -seven Premier league match at the El-Wak Stadium on Wednesday.

Adama emerged the hero of the day when he pulled his side even through a controversial spot kick plus the match winner two minutes later, when he capitalized on a sloppy clearance to fire powerfully past goal keeper Philemon Marcarty on the 80th mark.

The outcome of the match which leaves the Gomoa lads second from the bottom of Group B, devastated the debutants who have won once in seven games.

Feyenoord however went home not a disgraced side when Isaac Borketey Bortey canceled a 46th minute mark lead by the home team's Baba Musah who profited from a pull out to fire home a long range shot to send the scanty fans chanting.

Bortey cleverly headed home a Michael Akufu's set up from the flanks that caught the Power defence of Alex Djanie, Adjetey Isaac and colleagues clueless.

Feyenoord inspired by the goal, lifted their game and dominated their opponents who had all the chances to seal the game in the first half with admirable inter-positional, creative and intelligent display that drew applause from the near empty stadium.

And no wonder their sudden dominance that gave one a reason to expect the second goal turned a reality in the 75th minute when Haruna Genew sent in an acute and incisive 25-metre cracker for his side. The youngster won the hearts of all when he tore the Power defence into shreds before delivering the enviable shot that left goalkeeper Alfred Mills crawling helplessly.

At a time the visitors were heading towards their second league win, Asante Mampong-based referee, Gyan Muller crowned his already uninspiring afternoon with a doubtful penalty to Power following a slight contact on a player in an aerial scramble.

Adame gave his younger opponents no time to settle when he gifted from a lousy marking from the Feyenoord impressive rear, which have Black Satellites duo of Akufu and dependable Emmanuel Anerfi.
