Ghana off to Zambia for Africa Hockey Club Championship

The men’s hockey team of SSNIT, Trustees of Ghana, departed Accra on Tuesday for Zambia for the 2015 Africa Hockey Championship.

The tournament is slated for December 12-19 in the capital Lusaka.

The Greater Accra men’s league winners will later be joined by the Police men’s team and women’s team of the Ghana Revenue Authority on Wednesday (today) to battle for qualification.

The competition which brings together all the best clubs on the continent will see clubs from host Zambia, North African giants Egypt, Tunisia, Algeria also hockey powerhouse Kenya, West Africa neighbours Nigeria, Libya and Zimbabwe vying for honours in the Championship.

Ghana’s representatives will face off with defending champions Orange Hockey Club from Kenya, Yobe Queens of Nigeria, Hippo Club from Zimbabwe and Egypt's Sharkia among others.
