CEPS win Afahye competition

The CEPS male hockey team left good foot prints in Cape Coast when they defeated Citizens 1-0 to lift the giant trophy in the 12th Fetu Afahye hockey fiesta at the University of Cape Coast (UCC) hockey pitch last Saturday. The keenly contested competition was in commemoration of the Fetu Afahye festival of the Oguaa Tradititional Area.

Parading players like Horrace Plaher, the Moses brothers, Isaac and Charles, Ebenezer Frimpong, CEPS maintained the slender lead and survived the many raids Citizens embarked on in the all-Accra grand finale.

CEPS fought relentlessly to increase the tally in the dying minutes of the game but Citizens multiplied in defence to thwart their efforts.

In the ladies category, Fire emerged tops in an all-play-all encounter involving CEPS and the UCC ladies.

The one-day hockey competition attracted teams like Veterans, Golden Sticks, Multistix, Extinguishers of Fire Service, NDK, CEPS ladies all from Accra, Academicals, Royals from Kumasi, the Cape Coast hockey team and the UCC hockey team.

The Cape Coast Vicandy Company sponsored the well-attended competition.
