Black Sticks Ladies earn 2600 dollars for silver

Accra, July 22, GNA - The players of the Black Sticks female team are 2,600 dollars richer for winning silver at the just ended Hockey Africa Cup for Nations.

The Ladies team lost 1-5 t o South Africa in last Saturday's final of the tourney that had Nigeria and Egypt as other participants. The package consists 2,000 dollars for the second slot and 300 dollars for each match won.

Oko Nikoi Dzane, Chairman of the Ghana Hockey Association GHA) announced the package at a reception for the team on Wednesday at the National Hockey Stadium.

He congratulated the team for lifting high the flag of Ghana during the July 10 to July 18 championship. The GHA Chairman said the tourney provided an opportunity for the rebirth of hockey and ranked it above the lesser known sporting disciplines. Meanwhile, the Male counterparts will receive 1,300 dollars for their bronze feat.
