Police beat Prisons in Handball League

Accra, June 15, GNA - The Handball team of the Ghana Police Service beat their Prison Service counterparts 23-20 in the Week Six clash of the Handball League on Saturday at the Prisons Handball Court in Accra. The Police team led by skipper Christian Banla, a member of the national handball team, and ably supported by Bernard Amanor, Francis Asare and Nana Twumasi Onukpa Ankrah took a 3-1 lead moments after referees Christopher Quartey and Joel Ankrah had signaled the two teams into action. The Police led 11-10 at half time before sealing victory upon resumption.

The Prison Service Female team however atoned for their male counterpart's loss with a 29-19 emphatic victory over the Police team. Meanwhile, the Handball League enters Week Seven this week with attractive pairings.

On Thursday, June 18, Future will engage Prisons at the Prisons Complex whilst Asomdwe lock horns with HOSTAC at the Sacred Heart court. On Friday, June 19, Great Fingers will host Armed Forces at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex whilst Police wraps up the Week seven fixtures against Fire also at the Azumah Nelson Sports Complex on Saturday.

Menawhile in another volleyball encounter, Prisons Service thrashed Police Service 3-0 in both the male and female divisions.
