Areeba 2006 Handball League ends

Accra, Dec 3, GNA - The 2006 Areeba Handball League officially came to a close last Saturday with a grudge match between two rivals, the Police Service and the Ghana National Fire service yet to be honoured at a later date.
The Prison Service occupied the first position on the Male League Table with 51 points closely followed by the Police Service and the National Fire Service.
The second position for the league would be determined when the two sides clear their outstanding encounter.
In their last match last Saturday, Ghana Armed Forces showed superiority over their HOSTAC counterparts with a score of 34-26. Half time scores were 14-13 in favour of the Military Officers. League winners Prisons service overwhelmed Ghana Navy 22-19.
Future Stars failed to report for their match against Sire Service whilst Asomdwe Club spanked Old Hands 10 - 0. Ghana Police Service had a sweet victory over Air Force with the score line 31-17.
In the female division, Prisons Service are on top of the table with 27 points closely followed by Police service with 24 points. The winner of the League will be determined in the match between Fire and Police, since if Police win with superior goals aggregate they will dislodge Prisons at the top but if Fire wins then both teams would have to vie for the second and third positions respectively.
Meanwhile, the quarterfinals of the 2007 De Youngsters Knockout will commence this week with interesting pairings this Wednesday.
