Farewell Golf tournament for outgoing Barclays MD

Accra, Sept 15, GNA - The 39th Barclays Eagle Open would be the last official function of Mr Kobina Quansah, the out-going General Manager Barclays Bank Ghana Limited when the annual regional golf tournament tees off at the Kumasi Golf course on Sunday. Mr Qaunsah who is due to retire after 38 years service will lead a team of golfers from the Bank's headquarters in Accra which include the newly appointed Deputy General Manager, Alhassan Andani, Peter Iliasu, Eddie Torgbor, Tina Ayisi and other Executive members to be joined by their Kumasi counterparts for a fitting farewell.

The 18-hole Stableford competition, which will be played in both the scratch and handicap events is expected to attract golfers from Obuasi and other neighbouring golf clubs and is open to both men and ladies.

In the men's competition those expected to challenge for honours are Mr Akwasi Bawuah, captain of the Kumasi Golf Club and his deputy, Earl Ofori Atta, Fayez Haga, A.K. Baffoe, Kojo Kyei, Ricky Boakye Yiadom, Delvin Hainsworth, Sam Okyere, Dr Plange Rhule and Paul Ahulu among others. Among the Lady contenders are Amewu Atiase, Charity Agyeiwa, Victoria Agyei, Reghida Khalil, Hecta Muller and Nelly Hage among others.

The defending champions for the event are Y. A Boateng and Stephanie Dagleman for the men and ladies respectively. Barclays bank as usual has put aside exotic prizes including Television sets, electrical and household appliances to be distributed to the winners of the event.
