Peace Akwei in a Pleasant Turn of Golf Events

Peace Akwei has a huge bounce in her steps. Her golf game has taken a remarkable upturn, following something of a nosedive over the past few months.
Her recent disappointing streak reached its lowest point with what she describes as her worst scores recently at the Lipton Open at Tema. Nevertheless, she has navigated her way expertly through this rough patch to take a feel-good win at the Taysec July Medal in the Ladies B Division at the Achimota Golf Club.
“It was a pleasant surprise to see my scores after the first 9 holes,” Peace commented. “We played 3 balls and I was relaxed playing with two other ladies without pressure.”
She mostly appeared to be in control off the tee, hitting long and straight shots with remarkable accuracy, and her fairway shots also landed well. These were essential in what was overall a good round of golf.
A few misses on the greens, however, were a striking contrast, coupled with difficulties on her favorite hole 10 - but parring holes 2, 6, 7 and 13 provided a comfortable cushion for her win. Peace Akwei returned a net score of 75 off 23.
Having won the Barclays League in 2010 and 2011, Peace is now launching a bid for further golf laurels; how aggressively she tackles the course will determine the extent of her success.
”I need to work on my putting,” Peace Akwei conceded. “It would definitely help to practice regularly on the resurfaced greens for maximum benefit.”
With a good amount of momentum built up, her prospects on the Taysec league table look good. “I hope to maintain my lead on the table,” Peace said, “irrespective of my absence from some competitions.”
