Ennin wins Unilever Golf championship

Accra, April 21, GNA - Paul Ennin scored 44 points to win this year's Unilever Ghana Limited Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Sunday.

He was followed in the second position by Peter Saka with 41 points, L. Galindo placed third with 39 points beating Paul Owusu-Baah on count-back while Sam Oberoi came fifth with 37 points by beating E. Opoku and Nick Railston-Brown on count-back.

In the Ladies encounter, Victoria Adjei came first with 40 points, beating veteran Mona Captan on count-back and was followed by Adelaide Owusu-Adjapong with 38 points, while Joy Arkutu took the fourth position with 37 points.

Daniel List won the Junior division with 22 points when he beat Patrick Quarshie on count-back. The 'Aspiring Professionals' category was won by Robert Cofie with 43 points, while Paul Nukunu took the second position with 40 points.

The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition opened to amateur, professional and junior golfers attracted 200 participants. Mr Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club praised Unilever Ghana Limited for their contribution towards the development of the sport in the country.

He called on other corporate bodies to help develop the sport.

Mr Charles Cofie, Chief Executive Officer of Unilever Ghana said the company would continue to assist the Club to develop the sport. He was assisted by Mr Ezan to present trophies to the winners.
