Tema Country hosts G-18 Golf Tournament

Accra, Aug 8, GNA - The third annual G-18 Golf tournament tees off at the Tema Country Golf Course in September.

Dubbed G-18 due to its limitation to eighteen participants, the one-day tournament will once again target the corporate world with each company sponsoring one hole.

Stephanie Addo, Managing Director of Letage Productions, organizers of the event told GNA Sports that the tourney offered corporate entities an avenue to pool resources together with their attendant networking opportunities to support environmental related programmes. Under the theme 'Think Green,' the tourney will highlight major environmental concerns that plague this part of the world. The Managing Director said, "current inconsistent weather trends have been linked to environmental degradation and the tournament is being used as a campaign for all to adopt an environmentally friendly lifestyle.

"Golfers also require green golf courses, so the campaign is being propagated at the right forum," she added.

She said at stake will be, a business class return ticket to Dubai, United Arab Emirates in addition to a trophy for the winner, with the first and second runners up receiving trophies. Defending Champions, Databank will defend their title against the likes of Prestige Motors (first runner-up) and Mobile Choice (second runner-up).

Open to both male and female participants, the tournament will feature a special shootout competition for ten people with a special prize.

Emirates, Merchant Bank, Regency Services, Harlequin International, Labadi Beach Hotel, Rhapsody Communication, Newmont Mining, Goldfields Ghana Limited, Wienco and CTS are all expected to participate in the tourney, which will be preceded by a pre-tournament cocktail to herald its commencement.

Another significant addition to the tournament will be, the contribution each participant will make through Help Age Ghana, towards the upkeep of aged persons. Deductions of GH=A2120 (=A21,200,000) from the participation fee of each participants will go to Help Age Ghana.
