Yeboah wins Vodafone Tafo Open Golf

Kofi Yeboah returned a net score of 145 to win the 23rd Annual Vodafone Tafo Open Golf Championship, which was played at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana Golf Course at Tafo in the Eastern Region on Saturday.

He was followed by Peter Daglo with 148 net, Christopher Mbii with 149 net for the third position, Samuel Tetteh with 154 net to win fourth position, while Tei-Lartey Gberbie came fifth with 155 net.

In the Ladies Segment, Felicity Okyei Gyeabour emerged champion with 165 net, Constance Awuni took the second position with 168 net, while Jessica Tei placed third with 174 net.

In the Group ‘B’ encounter, Samuel Gyekye came first with 137 net, Frank Kumado followed with 141 net, Kofi Nkansah took the third position with 147 net, while George Amoah came fourth with 148 net.

The two-day 36-Hole Scratch Competition, which attracted 100 amateur golfers, was sponsored by Vodafone Ghana with support from Omnifert Ghana Limited.

Mr Samuel Kofi Nkansah, the Director of Finance, Vodafone Ghana, commended the participants for the sportsmanship exhibited throughout the competition.

He said Vodafone Ghana would continue to offer uninterrupted services to their customers at all times.

Mr Nkansah gave the assurance that the Company would continue to support the promotion and the development of the sport to attain international standards.

Mr Alex Kwapong, the Eastern Reginal Manager of the Company, commended the winners for the feat and said Vodafone Ghana would bring in innovations to attract more customers.

Mr Daniel Nii Ashitey, the Captain of the Tafo Golf Club, said the perception that the game of golf was for the rich was not true.

He said the club would introduce youth and professional events next year to ensure wider participation.
