Yeboah wins GCB Invitational Golf

Akim Tafo (E/R), Sep. 23, GNA - Kofi Yeboah returned a net score of 65 to win this year's Ghana Commercial Bank Limited (GCB) Invitational Golf Championship played at the Cocoa Research Institute of Ghana Golf Course at Tafo in the Eastern Region on Saturday.

Yeboah who played 33 Back and 34 Front with a Handicap of six, also received a special award for playing Eagle on Hole One. David Nazareth placed second with 66 net while K. Boakye-Sarpong took the third position with 67 beating Ernest Amalie on Count-back with Francis Oppong following with 68 net.

Yaa Konadu Sarfo-Debrah won the Ladies Division with 69 net followed by Beatrice Vetsch-Bempong at the second position with 72 net with Esi Cobbina placing third with 73 net.

About 100 golfers from Achimota, Takoradi, Tema, Kumasi and Tafo Clubs took part in the one-day 18-Hole Handicap competition. Mr Lawrence Adu-Mante, Managing Director of the GCB said sponsorship of the competition formed part of its corporate and social responsibility to support healthy living and to boost sports development in the country.

He gave the assurance that the Bank would continue to support the development of the sport in the country. Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng, President of the Tafo Golf Club thanked the Bank for its continued contributions towards the development of the sport.

The President of the host Golf Club was assisted by Mr Adu Mante to present prizes to the winners.
