UMB invitational golf on October 14

The maiden Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) Invitational Golf Championship tees-off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, October 14.

Mr George Amoah, Competition Secretary of the Achimota Golf Club, who disclosed this in Accra, said the one-day 18-Hole Stable-Ford competition forms part of activities marking the 45th anniversary celebration of the bank.

He said about 120 golfers from Achimota, Tema, Celebrity and the Bok Nam Kim golf clubs have been invited to participate in the competition.

Mr Amoah said the competition would be played according to the rules of the World’s Golf governing body and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club.

Among an array of golfers expected to participate in the competition are Mark Cofie, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, Frank Adu, immediate past captain of the club, Mike Aggrey, President, Ghana Golf Association, Peter Abrokwah, Sampson Asorgba and Tei Lartey Gberbie.

The Ladies section would also see Ama Morgan, Elizabeth Captan, Mona Captan Myles-Lamptey, Clara Price, Peace Akwei and Constance Awuni battling each other for the ultimate.

There would also be prizes for ‘’Nearest to the Pin’’ as well as ‘Bobby’’.

Officials of the bank, led by Mr John Awuah, Managing Director are expected to grace the occasion.
