Tigo Tema Open Golf tees off on Sep. 6

Tema, Aug. 25, GNA - This year's Tigo Tema Open Golf Championship will tee off at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday, September 6 and on Sunday, September 7. Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, General Manager of the Tema Country Golf Club, who announced this at Tema on Monday said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch competition which is open to junior, amateur and professional golfers would be sponsored by Millicom Ghana Limited. He said about 150 golfers are expected to participate in the competition, which is the fifth time to be sponsored by the company. Mr Adablanu said the competition which would be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association and the local rules of the Tema Country Golf Club, has Handicap 18 and 24 as the entry requirements. Among an array of golfers who have already registered for the competition include Felix Owusu-Addjapong, President of the Club, William Asiedu Yeboah, Kofi Gyawu, Kweku Okyere and Alex Fiagome. The Achimota team, which would be led by their captain, Robert Evans includes Theophilus Gouvinus, Charles Tabi, Daniel List, Michael Aggrey and Mathias Dorfe.

The professionals would battle for honours in a hectic 72-Hole event from Friday, September 5. Seven prizes would be awarded in the Men's category while four would be given out in the Ladies event. There would also be prizes for the 'Longest Drive on Hole 18' and the 'Nearest to the Pin on Hole 17'. Mr Osei Bonsu Amoah, Deputy Minister for Education, Science and Sports is expected to grace the occasion. 25 Aug. 08
