Tigo Tema Open Golf Championship scheduled for Sep. 5

Tema, Aug. 26, GNA - The Seventh Annual Tigo Tema Open Golf Championship tees off at the Tema Country Golf Course on Saturday, September 5 and to end on Sunday, September 6.

Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, General Manager of the Club who announced this at Tema on Wednesday, said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch event, which would be opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country, will be sponsored by Millicom Ghana Limited.

He said about 150 golfers are expected to participate in the competition which would be played in accordance with the local rules of the Club and the rules of the World's Golf governing body. Mr Adablanu said a Handicap competition would also be played alongside the main event.

The General Manager said some of the golfers who had registered for the competition include Kweku Okyere, Captain of the Club, Paul Owusu-Baah, Alex Fiagomey, William Asiedu Yeboah and Felix Owusu-Adjapong.

Mr Bismark Odoom, Outdoor Specialist of Millicom Ghana Limited said the company was sponsoring the competition as part if it's corporate social responsibilities.

He said apart from sponsoring golf, the company will also sponsor other sporting activities as its contribution towards the development of general sports in the country.

The Professionals would battle each other in a 72-Hole beginning on September 2 and end on September 5.

Mr Tismark Inja, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company would present the trophy to the winners.
