Tema Open Golf on Oct. 9

Tema, Sep. 29, GNA-The 18th Annual Tema Open Golf Championship tees off at the Tema Country Golf Course from Thursday, October nine and ends on Sunday, October 12.
Mr Ebenezer Adablanu, Chief Executive Officer of the club told the GNA Sports at Tema on Monday that six corporate bodies and organisations are sponsoring the competition which is open to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country.
He named them as Volta Aluminium Company Limited (VALCO), CAL Merchant Bank Limited, Unique Trust Financial Services, Hullbryth Limited, Glotech Engineering Limited and KEK Financial Services. Mr Adablanu said the Professionals would begin their 72-Hole event on October 9 with the Amateurs taking their turn on the 36-Hole on October 11 while the Juniors category would have theirs on October 12. He said about 200 golfers are expected to participate in the event which shall be played in accordance with the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club , the World's golf governing body and the local rules of the Tema Golf Club.
Meanwhile Mr Samuel Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club, said his team would sweep all the major prizes that would be put at stake.
He named some members of his team as Wisdom Asempa,Yaw Assah-Sam, Albert Brock, David Atuwo and Ted Deignan, winner of the 2003 Stanchart cup.
The Deputy Minister for Youth, Education and Sports, ,Mr Joe Aggrey ,is the ,special guest of h onour.
Before the event, the Tema Club will host their October Monthly Medal competition on Saturday, October four.
They would use the event to sharpen their strokes in readiness for the Tema Open .
