Sixty golfers to vie for Western Regional Open

Accra, May 15, GNA - About 60 amateur golfers will converge at the Takoradi Golf Course in the Western Region to battle each for the maiden Western Regional Open Championship on Saturday, May 17. Mr George Lee Mensah, Captain of the Takoradi Golf Club told GNA Sports in Accra on Thursday that the one-day18-Hole Handicap event, which is open to golfers from Takoradi, Tarkwa, Darmang and Kumasi golf clubs, is being sponsored by Diab and Sons Limited.

Mr Lee Mensah said the management of the sponsors had put in place adequate preparations to ensure a keen and fair competition. Sarpong Peprah, Augustine Amoakohene and Kofi Kkanigan are some of the golfers, who had already registered for the competition. Meanwhile, the May Medal of the Achimota Golf Club will be played on Saturday, May 17. Mr Emmanuel Kwabena Oteng-Aboagye, who announced this in Accra said the event was being sponsored by K.E.K. Insurance Brokers.
