Samsung golf at Achimota

Accra, Sept. 2, GNA - This year's Samsung Open Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra from Saturday, September 20, though to Sunday, September 21.

Mr Samuel Leslie Adetola, Captain of the Achimota Golf Club who announced this in Accra on Tuesday said the two-day 36-Hole Scratch event being sponsored by Afko Group of Companies is opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country.

Two hundred golfers are expected to participate in the competition, which is to be played in accordance with the rules of the Royal Ancient Golf Club, the World's golf governing body and the local rules of the Achimota Golf Club.

Mr Adetola said the club is putting the Course in good shape for the big game.

The Professionals will engage each other in a hectic three-day 54-Hole event beginning on Friday, September 19. Professor Michael Ben-George, President of the Ghana Golf Association, Dr Sydney Quartey, President of the Achimota Golf Club and some top management members of Afko would grace the occasion. 2 Sept. 2003.
