Nigeria Independence Day Golf at Achimota

Accra, Oct. 2, GNA-The First Nigerian Independence Day Open Golf Championship tees off at the Achimota Golf Course in Accra on Saturday, October 6.

Alberta Nana Akyaa Akosa, Assistant Manager, Events and Media Relations of Global Media Alliance who announced this in Accra on Tuesday, said the one-day 18-Hole stable-ford event open to amateur golfers throughout the country, forms part of activities marking the 47th Anniversary celebrations of Nigeria Independence. She said the event which shall be played under the rules of the Ghana Golf Association, was aimed at creating an ideal opportunity to strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between the two countries.

Nana Akosa said the event, which would feature seasoned golfers like Mike M. Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club, Mike Aggrey, H.A.K. Sackey and S.D. Odame, was being sponsored by six corporate bodies.

She named them as United Bank of Africa (UBA), Inter-Continental Bank, Amal Bank, Coca-Cola Ghana Limited, Virgin Nigeria and Guinness Ghana Breweries.
