Naa and Matilda Kwakye win EGEM Invitational Golf

Tarcisious Naa shot a fantastic 41 points off handicap 13 on Sunday to seal off an exciting win during the 6th Emmanuel Gyamfi Engineering and Mining Services Limited (EGEM Services Ltd) Invitational golf tournament of 2013.

The golden city course at Tarkwa played host to some of the finest professionals and amateur golfers in the Western Region.

Naa maintained a great performance from the start of the game to end and make sure that he was leading hole after hole.

Foster Korang with handicap of 10 came second with 39 points; Yaw Opoku and Kwesi Abban with a handicap of 10 and 14 followed closely on countback with 39 points to win the third and fourth position respectively whilst Peter Mensah with a handicap of 13 and scored 38 points also came firth.

In the ladies division, Matilda Kwakye who won last year with 35 points made it this year again with the same points to beat the women yet again. Sandra Van Niekerk and Judith K. Mintah followed with 34 points and 32 points in second and third positions respectively.

The professionals were not left out, experienced Kojo Barnni won with 68 points, Solomon Harvey came second with 71 points and George Osei came third with 72 points.

The General Manager of EGEM Service Ltd, Mr. Christian Kanduri thanked all the golfers for taking part of the competition. He added that EGEM Services Ltd do not only seek to become the number one mechanical company in Ghana, but also perform their social responsibility by giving back to society.

“We are committed to the well-being of the communities in which we work and golf is just one area. Since we assemble and disassemble heavy duty machines, we have also established a training school in Tarkwa to educate the youth in Ghana,” Mr. Kanduri said.
