Molapo wins Heritage Classic Invitational Golf

Tema, Aug. 24, GNA - Joseph Molapo returned a net sore of 72 to win this year's Heritage Classic Invitational Golf Championship played at the Celebrity Golf Course at Sakumono, near Tema on Saturday. Playing to Handicap 18, Molapo who beat a field of 100 golfers played Back 44 and Front 46 in the keenly-contested competition which was in memory of the late Mr Justice Charles Edward Henley Coussey, a former Supreme Court judge.

Ashish Gajjar took the second position with 73 net when he beat Owen Kusi-Boateng on count-back while Akwasi Opoku placed fourth with 75 net, with the fifth position going to Frank Ntim who returned 76 net. In the Ladies segment, Anne Beverly-Brown retained the trophy she won last year when she returned 68 net to emerge champion. She was followed by Florence Etwi-Barimah with 76 net, while Joy Arkutu took the third position with 78net.

The one-day 18-Hole competition which was also to raise funds to support the New Horizon School in Accra was sponsored by Wish Bone Incorporated of United Kingdom. Dr Kobina Quansah, President of the Celebrity Golf Club praised the late Justice Coussey for his contribution towards the development of the game.

"As an avid golfer, Justice Coussey dedicated his life to the promotion and the development of the game and that was a way of immortalizing him, a befitting competition was played in his memory', he added.
