Mensah wins Ghana-Korea International Golf

Tema, Sept. 28, GNA - Wisbon G. Mensah scored 48 points to win the First Ghana-Korea International Golf Championship played at the Tema Country Golf Course on Sunday.

He was followed by Kofi Krunzu with 47 points, J.M. Ann took the third position with 44 points while Francis Torgah came fourth with 43 points beating H.K. Jeonn on count-back.

In the Ladies encounter, Kyong Hwa Kim came first with 44 points followed by Y. J. Lee at the second position with 43 points, Grace Afriyie placed third with 42 points, while Grace Amoah took the fourth position with 39 points, beating Margaret Owusu-Baah on count-back. The one-day 18-Hole Medal Play event, which was sponsored by Tema Country Golf Club, attracted about 150 golfers.

Nana Antwi-Boasiako, Vice President of the Tema Country Golf Club said the event was aimed at strengthening the already existing cordial relationship between Ghana and Korea. He expressed the hope that the event would be organized annually to enhance cordial relations between the peoples of the two countries. Mr H. K. Jeon, Consulate of the Korean Embassy praised the participants for the show of sportsmanship and pledged the Embassy's commitment of helping to develop the sport in the country. 29 Sept. 08
