Goshen wins Nana Wereko Ampem Memorial Golf

Accra, Dec. 6, GNA - Brett Goshen scored 44 points to win the third Annual Oyeeman Wereko Ampem II Memorial Open Golf Championship played at the Achimota Golf course in Accra on Friday. He was followed in second by Mike Aggrey with 39 points, A.S. Amoah took the third position with 38 points while Eddie Dontoh placed fourth with 37 points, beating Kweku Tettehdzi and Joseph Klah on count back.

Suzie Abaloo-Kumassah won the ladies category with 37 points, Victoria Adjei took the second position with 34 points, while Elizabeth Johan placed third with 33 points, beating Esther Antwi and Margaret Owusu-Baah on count-back.

David Doe won the Professional's event with 71 gross, Stephen Klah came second with 72 gross, beating A.K. Akorful on count-back while L.A. Ayisah took the fourth position with 74 gross, beating John Dorman and Robert Degbe on count back. The Special Nine-Hole event was won by Mike Ezan with 33 points. The one-day 18-Hole Stable-ford competition opened to amateur and professional golfers throughout the country and attracted 120 participants.

It was aimed at remembering the late Oyeeman Wereko Ampem II, former President of the Achimota Golf Club, who died in 2005. Mr Mike Ezan, President of the Achimota Golf Club, described the late Oyeeman Wereko Ampen as an avid golfer who made the Achimota Golf Club what it is today.

He appealed to the participants to emulate the exemplary leadership role played by Oyeeman Wereko Ampem Ampem to develop the sport.
