Golfers Honor Dr. Frank Adu

Members of the Achimota, Kumasi and Tema Mafia Group on May 1 descended on the beautiful Golf course at Tafo to play in honor of Dr. Frank Adu following an Honorary Degree that the University of Ghana conferred on him for his contribution towards Tertiary Education in the country.
The Achimota members set off in Accra on a cozy bus in the early hours when conditions of wind raged across the city as heavy rains drenched the roads. Whiles on board, sidesplitting jokes and bouts of laughter among the golfers were so rollicking that the only thing that could mute even the loudest revelers was the robust impact of the indigenous hot ‘koko’ served to patrons.
Having arrived finally at 9:30am, the golfers readied to play the aptly receptive course at 9:50am despite a bone-chilling weather that first greeted them on arrival.
The fun of playing a course with such pulsating fairways in a faraway Eastern part of Ghana meant a great deal for the revelers who came from across the country to enjoy a round of golf whiles celebrating one of their own.
When it mattered most, Achimota’s Carl Brew Aidoo routed the field to emerge the overall winner.
Carl shot a modest 67 off handicap 11 to edge out the other golfers despite almost crumbling on the opening hole. “I played five over on the first hole and that almost crippled my subsequent efforts,” he noted
However, like a man on a wild thrill chase, he kept oozing lots of intensity on the course to ensure a truly happy ending.
On a good day when it was all streaking hot, Carl managed his shots to the tightest of pin locations and gracefully got a few of those chances to seal off an exciting game.
“I went to have fun, and do things the ‘mafia’ way and thankfully I got something for my input,” he said, adding; “I enjoyed the game, the friendship and the brilliant course that we played,”
“Besides, the weather was so beautiful and calm,” he explained to The Golfer newspaper
The day’s event reached an all-time high when golfers led by Major Nyen and Mr. Mike Aggrey sang and cheered on Frank Adu whiles others spared no chance to soak him in cold water.
An obviously elated Frank Adu, MD of CAL Bank, relished the moment as he clearly found himself in a familiar group, which until recently was President of.
When he regained his composure, Dr. Frank Adu thanked his friends for the honor done him that, he found himself among a respectable company and felt very comfortable and honored for the massive support shown him since the premier University honored him.
The Current President of the Mafia group of Achimota, Ama Morgan entreated fellow golfers to offer her and the other executives the needed support to improve the lots of the group.
The Mafia group was established to foster and improve the inter-personal relationships among its members even as they improve their game to make it more competitive and enjoyable.
